Service Manager

The Service Manager position at M & M Cyclery is a fun and challenging position that allows the person to share the love of cycling with customers and co-workers. The service manager is expected to maintain high quality and safety standards and deliver exceptional service to customers.

Duties of a Service Manager

  • Assists customers in an enthusiastic and courteous manner; provides “wow” customer service.
  • Will properly diagnosis and offer appropriate solutions to the customer.
  • Correctly fill out service work orders and schedule the appropriate amount of repairs per day. While maintaining a minimum 3 day turn around.
  • Build and train a team of technicians to carry out shop service to meet M & M Cyclery’s and Manufactures highest standards
  • Assists in evaluating staff needs including hiring, scheduling and evaluating staff performance
  • Order shop materials, tools and supplies
  • Advises and assists customers with their product selection without bias.
  • Communicate with General manager repair and warranty part needs.
  • Perform all service work, including assemblies, repairs, tune-ups, overhauls, wheel building and frame prepping and alignments in a safe, timely and professional manner
  • Develops and maintains knowledge expertise of all merchandise in department to effectively assist customers with accurate information; keeps current as new product lines are introduced. Assists with bike sales and any other bike floor duties as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and safe workplace.

Experienced Bicycle Mechanic

Lake County’s fastest growing bike shop has an immediate opening in our service department.

  • Applicant must have at least 3+ years of successful mechanical or tech experience working on bicycles.
  • Demonstrates continued professional development, and demonstrates expertise in one or multiple specialized technical areas (road, tri/TT, suspension/hydraulics, recumbent, etc.)
  • Is neat and organized, and is respectful of a shared work space
  • Is capable of safely lifting and carrying 40lbs on a regular basis
  • Is able to manage their time effectively and work under pressure
  • Is self-motivated, able to work both independently and as a member of a team, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Complete all scheduled work orders, from minor repairs to complete overhauls and builds, within the promised turnaround time
  • Perform minor repairs on the spot whenever possible
  • Maintain an organized, clean work area
  • Coaches and advises other technicians on mechanical and procedural concepts
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the service manager
  • Learn, understand and adhere to company policy, programs and standards

Sales Associate

This individual is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and product knowledge to ensure that every person who enters our store feels welcome and enjoys his or her ride.

  • Assist in the daily operations of the store, including restocking, cleaning, organizing and merchandising
  • Support in-store events
  • Achieve minimum sales-per-hour expectations
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management
  • Learn, understand and adhere to company policy, programs and standards

The Sales Associate position is a part time position; you will work approximately 20 - 30 hours per week depending on the season, and you should have the ability to work evenings and weekends.
The ideal candidate:

  • Should be passionate about cycling as well as promoting the benefits of a cycling lifestyle and culture. Candidate doesn’t necessarily need to have prior sales or bicycle retail experience, but must be willing to learn about bicycles, cycling accessories, and cycling culture.
  • Enthusiastically embraces the concept of serving the customer and providing an exceptional retail experience
  • Is capable of safely lifting and carrying 40lbs on a regular basis
  • Is intrinsically motivated, able to work both independently and as a member of a team, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong personal sense of style and athletically minded
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possesses a strong character/ethical core – does the right thing in all interactions
